This project was created for a film and TV context set during the 1970s, with a focus on representing women's rights. My actress portrayed an extra participating in the march and sitting at the table during the planning of the march.
I conducted extensive research into the 1970s era to ensure that I understood the historical context and adhered to the beauty trends of the time. These trends included blue eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, narrow brows, long lashes, and nude pink lips. I drew inspiration for the makeup primarily from Agnetha Fältskog and Cher.
For the hairstyle, I aimed to create a 1970s blowout, popularized by Farrah Fawcett. This look was characterized by voluminous, flowing locks with a slight flip at the ends, capturing the essence of the era's iconic hair trends.
By combining my research, understanding of the historical context, and inspiration from influential figures of the time, I successfully created a makeup and hairstyle that accurately represented the 1970s and aligned with the themes of the film and TV project.

Upon arriving on set, it was noticed that the two-toned hair was visible on camera, despite the film being shot in black and white. To address this issue, someone placed a scarf over the hair without consulting me, the hair and makeup artist, beforehand.
Prior to this, I had engaged in extensive discussions regarding the dyed hair and the possibility of spraying the hair or using a wig. I was then informed that the film would be in black and white, so the hair colour would not be an issue. After completing my practice run, I was told that the hair looked great and was historically accurate. I maintained the same style for the final look and was later asked to change the fringe, which I had little problem doing.
Despite spending a significant amount of time discussing the hair and being assured that it would be fine on multiple occasions, a scarf was ultimately placed over my work without my input. This experience taught me the importance of maintaining professionalism even when things do not go as planned. In retrospect, I am glad that this situation occurred, as it provided me with an opportunity to practice keeping a professional demeanour in the face of unexpected challenges.

I had a lot of fun creating this look and researching it, as well as executing the final product. I thoroughly enjoyed working on set in tv and film and would love to do it again. I felt very professional using my onset bag and doing touch ups. I found it a very educational experience as well as exciting, I can’t wait to do more tv and film work!
